ORCA Card

The main reason the Sustainable Commuter Option Fee exists is to provide students who choose to take the bus a full-fare bus pass at 50% discount.

Student Advocate

If you are a student who feels that they have been treated unfairly in grading or otherwise, talk to our student advocate to get an idea what you can do to get the situation resolved.

Mini Grant

The Mini-grant process allows clubs and organizations to receive funds in addition to their $500 baseline budgets or yearly SS&A proposals. Contact the Minister of Finance for more information.

Media Tech Request

The SLC employs Media Technicians to run the PUB main dining room sound system and help students use smart classrooms for club events.

Graphic Design Request

Graphic Design services are offered to clubs and organizations. This includes design of print or digital signage slides as well as printing/uploading of the designs (within reason).

ORCA Card

Spring ORCA passes for sale beginning on March 20, 2013

Beginning on Wednesday March 20th at 8:00A.M., the Spring ORCA passes with 50% subsidy from the Student Sustainable Commuter Option Fee (SCOF) will be available on sale at the cashier on campus. With the subsidy from the SCOF, ORCA passes sold on campus will cost students at $119.87 per card for spring quarter 2013. The passes will be effective from the first of spring quarter to last day of spring break (Apr 1 – June 23).

To purchase, you need:

  1. Student ID Card
  2. Signed ORCA Cardholder Rules of Use
  3. Payment

ORCA Bus Pass FAQs

1. What services is my card valid on? For how much?

With a Shoreline Community College ORCA pass for Fall, Winter, and Spring quarters, you can ride a number of services in the area without having to pay fare. Think of it as an all access pass for public transportation in the Greater Seattle area.

These include:

  1. Bus services on all Community Transit, Everett Transit, Kitsap Transit, Metro Transit, Pierce Transit, and Sound Transit services.
  2. Regular service on Sound Transit Link light rail. o Regular service on Sound Transit Sounder commuter rail (including Rail Plus partnership with Amtrak Cascades).
  3. Regular service on Seattle Lake Union Streetcar.
  4. Regular service on King County Water Taxi. (Vashon and West Seattle routes) o Regular service on Kitsap Transit Foot Ferry. (Port Orchard and Annapolis routes).
  5. Access Transportation service on Kitsap Transit and Metro Transit (eligible riders only).

2. How much does it cost? When is it valid?

The cost and dates valid vary by quarter. Each quarter you must purchase a new ORCA card from the cashier’s office. ORCA cards are active starting on the Start Date and expire on the End Date. After a card has expired, you can simply throw it away. Consult the table below for total costs and start and end dates.

3. How do I get one?

ORCA cards can be purchased at the Cashier Office, located in the main level of the FOSS building across from Registration and Financial Aid. Simply bring your Student ID, filled out ORCA Cardholder Rules of Use, and payment and you will receive your ORCA card. You cannot make multiple payments towards the quarterly bus pass, and must pay for it all at once. You must be registered and have paid (or have set up a payment plan) before the pass can be purchased.

4. Who is eligible for the bus passes?

ORCA cards are available on a First-Come-First-Served basis and there are a limited number of cards available. If the stock runs out, please make an inquiry to the Student Leadership Center on the third floor of the PUB, where information will be available about the possibility of obtaining more cards.

Most students are eligible for an SCC ORCA card. However, some students who have the Sustainable Commuter Option Fee waived are not eligible to receive an SCC bus pass. If unsure, check your tuition/fees receipt for the Sustainable Commuter Option Fee.

5. What if I stop taking classes at SCC before the quarter is over?

If you cease to be a student at SCC, you must return your ORCA card to the cashiering office, and the card will be disabled. You will receive a refund of the amount that you paid for the card according to the college’s standard refund schedule (the same percentages and days that are used for tuition and fees).
