How do I address server timeout issues while students are taking assessments?

A student taking a long assessment might run into server time out errors if they are online for an extended period of time with a dial-up service. The student can call their ISP and ask them if they have a time-setting for limited or no action while online. Some suggestions to minimize this issue is to use a question by question approach, which will allow the students to save their answers as they go. Also, you might consider using the time limit box. While it is okay for the student to go over this limit, you can certainly choose not to accept any tests over the limit. Another way is to break up a very long test into 2 parts if possible.
